Winston Churchill: The Real Man

Winston Leonard Spencer-Churchill who is also known for his short name as Winston Churchill was Born on 30^th day of November 1874 in a room in Blenheim Palace, Woodstock, Oxfordshire. Winston was born two months prematurely. Winston Churchill was born into aristocratic Spencer family, similar to his father; Winston Churchill used Churchill as his surname in public life. In 1817, his ancestor George Spencer had transformed his surname to Spencer-Churchill when he became Duke of Marlborough to give emphasis to his descent from John Churchill, the 1st Duke of Marlborough. Winston's father was Lord Randolph Churchill, the third son of John Spencer-Churchill and was the 7th Duke of Marlborough. His father was a politician and his mother is Lady Randolph Churchill (née Jennie Jerome) was the daughter of American millionaire Leonard Jerome.

When Winston reached two to six year old, he lived in Dublin. His grandfather was chosen Viceroy and who had Churchill's father as his private secretary. During this time, his mother gives birth to his one and only brother, John Strange Spencer-Churchill in Ireland. When he was still young, Winston is fond of watching military parades pass in the Vice Regal Lodge which was now as Aras a Uachtaráin, the official residence of the President of Ireland, because of that he was fascinated in militarism. Winston's earliest endeavours at education happened in Dublin. An instructor tried to educate him reading, writing and arithmetic. 'Reading Without Tears' was the title of the first book Winston had read. His Nanny Mrs Everest was his confidante, nurse and mother and they used up many happy hours playing in the Phoenix Park.

His Love of his life and his Family

Churchill met Clementine Hozier, his wife now in 1904 at the ball in Crewe House, home of the Earl of Crewe. Crewe is the wife of Margaret Primrose, the daughter of Archibald Primrose, the 5th Earl of Rosebery. In the year 1908, Churchill and Clementine met again at a dinner party hosted by Lady St Helier. Churchill found himself seated beside Clementine and they soon began a lifetime romance. In the 10^th day of August 1908, Churchill proposed a marriage to Clementine during a house party at Blenheim Palace, in a small Temple of Diana.

In that the same year, 12^th day September, Churchill and Clementine got married in St. Margaret's, Westminster. The church was completed with the Bishop of St Asaph were conducted the service. The newly couple spent their honeymoon at Highgrove House in Eastcote. In March 1909, the couple moved to a house at 33 Eccleston Square. In 11^th day of July 1909, Winston and Clementine got their first child named Diana, she was born in London. After giving birth, Clementine went to Sussex for her recovery, while Diana stayed in London with her Nanny. On 28 May 1911, their second child was born named Randolph, who was born at 33 Eccleston Square.

Sarah was their third child; she was born on 7 October 1914 at Admiralty House. The birth was striking with nervousness for Clementine because Winston had been sent to Antwerp by the Cabinet to "stiffen the resistance of the beleaguered city" after news that the Belgians proposed to surrender in the town. On 15 November 1918, four days after the official end of the World War I, Clementine gave birth to her fourth child named Marigold Frances Churchill. August 1921, the Churchills' children were entrusted to a French nursery professor in Kent named Mlle Rose.

Clementine, in the meantime, travelled to Eaton Hall to play tennis with the 2nd Duke of Westminster Hugh Grosvenor and his family. While still under the care of Mlle Rose, their fourth child Marigold got sick and was reported to have recovered from the sickness. As the illness development with only just any notice, it crooked into septicaemia. With the advice from her landlady, Rose sent a report to Clementine. On the other hand, the illness wasn’t having improvement for Marigold. On 23 August 1921, the simple illness turned into fatal. And Marigold was died and buried in the Kensal Green Cemetery three days later after her death.

15^th day of September 1922, Clementine give birth for the last time with a little girl named Mary. Late month of 1965, the Churchills bought Chartwell, which would be Winston's home until his death.

His Favourite Friend

"She had been my dearest and most intimate friend during the whole of the twenty years I had lived." – Winston Churchill

Churchill truly has a mind of militarism, in fact in 1895; Churchill went to Cuba to observe the Spanish fight the Cuban guerrillas. He had found an assignment to write about the clash from the Daily Graphic. To his enthused, along his twenty-first birthday, he came under fire for the first time. He had warm-hearted reminiscences of Cuba as a "...large, rich, beautiful island..." While he was there, he soon obtained a taste for Havana cigars. Because of that, he smoked for the rest of his life. When he was in New York, he resided at the home of Bourke Cockran which was he knew that Bourke was an admirer of his mother. Bourke was a well-known American politician and a member of the House of Representatives there. He deeply influenced Churchill in his move towards oratory and politics and cheering a love of America.

As the time passed by, while spending time in America, he received a letter telling him that his Nanny Mrs Everest was dying. He immediately returned to England and stayed to his Nanny for a week until Mrs Everest died. Winston wrote in his journal saying “She was my favourite friend." "She had been my dearest and most intimate friend during the whole of the twenty years I had lived." He truly loves his Nanny, he never asks for more about her. He feel loved when he is with his Nanny.

The Protector

Even during the time Churchill was protesting against Indian independence, he received official and or else secret information. Year 1932, Churchill's fellow citizen which was Major Desmond Morton with Ramsay MacDonald's approval offer Churchill information on German air power. Since 1930 onwards, Morton headed a section of the Committee of Imperial Defence charged with investigating the defence attentiveness of other nations. The secretary of State for Air, Lord Swinton and with Baldwin's support, in 1934 gave Churchill access to official and otherwise secret information.

Swinton did so; knowing Churchill would remain a detractor of the government but believing that an informed detractor was better than one relying on rumour and hearsay. Churchill was a violent detractor of Neville Chamberlain's conciliation of Adolf Hitler and in a speech to the House of Commons. He frankly and prophetically stated, "You were given the choice between war and dishonour. You chose dishonour, and you will have war." He was a very militarism; he never turned back against his opponent, he was certified critic for the good of the Government and for his family.

John Wooden: A warrior of his Age

John Wooden or John Robert Wooden for his complete name was born in the town of Hall, Indiana in the 14^th day of October in the year 1910. He was an American Basketball player and at the same time he was coaching at his time. Wooden was given the title “The Indiana Rubber Man" for his depths of despair plummets on the hard-court. He took his college and graduated from Purdue in the year 1932 with a degree in English. John Wooden won ten NCAA national championships in a 12-year time — seven in a rank— as a head coach at UCLA. Truly, John Wooden has an extraordinary achievement. Within this period, his teams won a record 88 successive games. For six times in history John Wooden was named national coach of the year. As a coach, he experienced being a demand for everybody. It comes to the point that his salary goes high but he did not abused it, the proof for this is the quoted written by Rick Reilly of ESPN "He never made more than $35,000 a year salary (not including camps and speaking engagements), including 1975, the year he won his 10th national championship, and never asked for a raise,".

Among all of the Basketball coaches, John Wooden was one of the most holy coaches and was befriended and loved by his previous players, between them Kareem Abdul Jabbar and Bill Walton. Wooden was famous for his short, simple inspirational messages to his players, including his "Pyramid of Success." Because of this mind set, he put it in his mind that being pleasant is one way to be successful in life and in his career which is the basketball.

In Kentucky, Wooden coached for two years in the Dayton High School. His first year at Dayton noticed the only time he was lose in a record of 6–11 as a coach. After in Dayton High School, he comes back to Indiana. He taught English and coached basketball at South Bend Central High School waiting to enter in the Armed Forces. After his eleven years of coaching in high school, two at Dayton and nine at Central, his record was 218–42.

After World War II, Wooden coached in Terre Haute, Indiana at the Indiana Sate Teacher’s College which was the Indiana State University now from the year 1946 to 1948 after his high school coach, Glenn Curtis. Wooden took his Master’s degree and served as Athletic Director. In addition to his duties as basketball coach, in 1947, Wooden's basketball team won the Indiana Intercollegiate Conference title and received an invitation to the National Association of Intercollegiate Basketball (NAIB) National Tournament in Kansas City. Wooden declined the invitation, referring to that NAIB's policies were banning African American players. One of his players was Clarence Walker, an African-American from East Chicago, Indiana.

At that same year, Wooden was called by Purdue University which was his alma mater and wanted him to work as an assistant to then-head coach Mel Taube until the contract of Taube expires. Then, Wooden will replace him as head coach and take over the program. Referring his loyalty to Taube, Wooden declined because this would make Taube a lame duck coach.

In year 1948, Wooden once again led the Indiana state to the conference title. This time, the NAIB is allowing the African-American players to join the game and because of this Wooden and his team accepted the invitation. However, they lost to Louisville in the finals. This was the only championship game that Wooden lost. That same year, Walker was known as the first African-American basketball player to play in any post-season intercollegiate basketball tournament. In February 3, 1984, John Wooden was introduced to the Indiana State University Athletic Hall of Fame.

In 2008, the Indiana State named the court at Hulman Center ”The Nellie and John Wooden Court” named after John Wooden and his wife, Nelie. The event included recorded comments from Coach Wooden and the participation of members of his 1946-47 and 1947-48 teams. The Sycamores was the first to play in the newly-named floor by defeating the Albion College (MI) Britons in an exhibition game.

His Inspiration

"I have always tried to make it clear that basketball is not the ultimate. It is of small importance in comparison to the total life we live. There is only one kind of life that truly wins, and that is the one that places faith in the hands of the Saviour”. –John Wooden

Wooden’s inspiration was his family and his faith to God. Wooden’s parents were Roxie Anna and Joshua Hugh Wooden. He had five siblings namely: Maurice, Daniel, and William and his two more sisters. His two sisters died before triumphing the age of three. The one was unnamed and died in infancy while his sister Cordelia died from diphtheria when she was two.

July 1926, when Wooden was scrolling to the carnival he met Nellie (Nell) his wife now. On August 1932, they decided to get married in a small ceremony in Indianapolis. Afterwards, they watched Mills Brothers concert at the Circle Theatre to celebrate. Before Nellie died on March 21, 1985 because of the cancer, John and Nell had a son named James Hugh Wooden, and a daughter, Nancy Anne Muehlhausen.

Wooden was very faithful to Nellie, even decades after her death until he died. He always kept to a monthly ritual since the death of his wife. On the 21^st, Wooden went to his wife’s grave and wrote a love letter. He placed his letter inside an envelope and added it to a collection of similar letters that was collected over the years of their relationship on his wife’s pillow. However, Wooden stopped writing letters because of failing eyesight.

In grief of Nellie's death, Wooden was eased by his faith. He was a religious Christian and basketball was not the most important thing in his life, it’s his belief. To prove this, he once said: "I have always tried to make it clear that basketball is not the ultimate. It is of small importance in comparison to the total life we live. There is only one kind of life that truly wins, and that is the one that places faith in the hands of the Savior." Wooden's devotion to his faith strongly influenced his life. He always read bible and attend the first mass. He hoped that others would notice his faith and serve it as an inspiration: "If I were ever prosecuted for my religion, I truly hope there would be enough evidence to convict me."

John Wooden showed evidences that having a job can become your career or a passion. But for Wooden, he treated it as his passion and live by it with joy and thankful. An example of that is when one of his players wasn’t able to play because of such difference, but still he chose to be a friend than to be a coach. Wooden also showed his love and care for his family, he is certified a “Warrior of his time” not only to his player, career and fans but also to his Personal Saviour which is his God.

I agree with this definition, it is not so technical and it emphasizes that human resources is an important factor of an organization. In fact it sees HRM as an art and science of how to get and keep people in their job. It also talks about the five functions of HRM, and I think that this functions are common to all definitions of HRM.

HRM and Personnel Management are synonymous, it is a body of officers and staff who take charge of the affairs and operations of an organization, vested with the power and endowed with the functions of determining the human resources needs of the whole structure of the and filling the different position with the right people for the job. With this goes the function of developing the skills of the personnel, rewarding them for achievement and evaluating their performance for movement in rank and compensation.

Definition three states that HRM and personnel management is just the same. It explains that HRM is a body of officers that has the power of determining the needs of the human resources. A nice portion of this definition that really strikes me in is that "filling the different position with the right people for the job". Interview a personnel/human resource manager on his concept on the nature, scope and role of human resource management. Do you agree with him? Explain. Is his concept similar to that of the management of his organization? If not, ask him how the differences are settled.

The person we interwieved is Ms. Marivic Dumaran, the Human Resource Development Division (HRDD) Administrative Officer V of USeP.

Her concept on the nature, scope, and role of the human resource management is as follows:

Nature
Human Resource Management is specifically more on keeping the files of the employee and making reports. This also includes developing the human resources for they are the most important component of the organization. For what is the use of all the facilities if no one will make use of it.

(Actually, she was confused with what we mean by the question 'nature of HRM. She told us to do research but as i understand she was referring to nature when she answered us this statements. And she keeps on repeating it.)

Scope
HRDD or the human resource management scope, is from the lowest employee to the highest ranking officials of the institution. To have a more effective HRM you must develop the lower rank as well as the top rank even the president.

Role
The HRDD is concerned in hiring human resources who'll fit to the job and it's description for improvement of the organization. They are the one who keep records of the employee from their entrance to exit in the institution.

We also asked Ma'am Marivic if she is satifistied with the HRM in the university, she said that it is doing fine and functional. She also said that presently the department is poor in written documents but the good thing is they are now practicing the HRDD's function and role. I actually agree with Ma'am Marivic's concept about the HRM especially when she said about the part that "The HRDD is concerned in hiring human resources who'll fit to the job and it's description for improvement of the organization."

SEPTEMBER 15

The following Monday we returned in the HRDD because during the time
(saturday and sunday)
we made our HRIS prototype we encountered problems and we still lack enough information.
It was almost 2pm when we went their...we checked for Ma'am and we did not see her so we waited outside.
Hehe...Karl really wanted to stay in side the office and wait their because its aircon...haha...
But the others insists on waiting outside...but when i cannot stand the heat anymore i agreed to
go with him inside. I think Karl was our lucky charm that time because when we went inside
Ma'am was already there.
Immediately we had our interview...

And we were able, this time, to have a clear look in their HRIS. Since Ma'am Marivic was not very knowledgable about the system she referred us to Kuya Jun who explained and showed to us how the system works.

Glad its finally Friday!!!
(weeeeee............)

Today is our interview, we went to HRDD at 3pm as scheduled. When we look for Ma'am Marivic she was not around. So we decided to ask the only person present in the that office where she is, and she answered that Ma'am was absent for the day.

We asked her if Ma'am left any instructions that a group of students will have an interview that day but unfortunately she said none. (i guess...Ma'am was just so busy that she forgot...) Out of desperation (i was desperately desperate at that moment and partly irritated for Karl was still not around...) we decided to interview or should i say 'ambush interview' the only person present in the office.
Luckily for us that only person was the right person we are looking for! She is Ma'am Evelyn Del Rosario the USep HRDD Administrative Assistant II and she is the one who has access to the department's database. And so we interwieved her ( and Karl finally arrived...yehey....!)...

When we checked for Ma'am Marivic she was not still around so we waited for her for almost one hour outside the office.
After the long moment of waiting... (during which all the santan flowernear me was made into a necklace, tiara and bracelet...hehe...) finally Ma'am Marivic entertained us...she explained that the department was very busy at the moment and she has no time for an interview that day.
But she said that on friday, September 12 at 3pm we can have our promised interview.
(i hope this day is friday...i noticed we were so late in our gantt chart schedule...huhu...)

SEPTEMBER 2 (tuesday)

Motivation...hmm...
i like this word!
Because it cost 464 Philippine peso...
That's it...after days of drafting our gantt chart we finally reach the time to make the final one... After making the most of the first part we took a rest and watch Shakugan No Shana and Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge...
(hehe...it was really fun!)
When it was finished we were all hungry and we cannot concentrate on what we are doing anymore...
...so we thought it was motivating time...

SEPTEMBER 3 (wednesday)

Did you know that the gantt chart should be made in Microsoft Visio?
Well...we did...but we dont have an installer.
So today what we did is look for an installer so that we can transfer our final draft...and finally we found one! Yehey!thanks to Kuya Anthony... Having the installer we are hoping to pass our gantt chart today... But (i was wrong...) the Visio is so "nosebleed" to use that after 5pm (time the teachers leave the school) we were'nt finish yet...

One of our classmates informed us that Sir said to use Microsoft Project instead which is easier... So we look again for an installer...luckily there is one but unluckily there is a problem in installation...hitting dead ends we just continued with the Visio.

From the IC we transferred to second floor eng'g building... when a life saver arrive,i think his name is Roy? (dunno, but his one of my classmate...thanks to you!) he has an installer and it works!... We finished our work in Project...by the time were done it was 9:30pm...
We'll just pass this tomorrow...

Today is the first day of the week Ma'am Marivic told us that she will entertain us...
we were all ready for the interview
but unfortunately one of the staff in HRDD told us that Ma'am is in Laguna...
and that probably she will return on either Thursday or Friday...
and if we need something from her we might as well return next week so that she will be surely
present...

Explanation:

Increasing our food and energy self sufficiency contributes a lot for the improvement of our life.If we are producing our own rice it means we will import less from other rice producing countries.Through agrarian reforms our country men are given land to cultivate for their own. In HRM, this act of giving and trusting Filipino people lands to cultivate for their own means that the government have trust in the ability of its people. This will lift their morale making them work harder. In the case of energy, if we are self sufficient we will save a lot of money in paying bills therefore budget could be allocated for other needs of the people. More jobs and improved wages. This is especially important to us incoming college graduate. For the next 2010 the government will be demanding one million jobs and with the right qualifications and skills almost every graduate will be sure of getting a job in the future. Education and health insurances for more Filipinos. I firmly believe that education and health are key factors in creating a better nation. If people are educated they are well equip and competent in any task given to them. If people are healthy in body and mind they will become a good work force of the nation.

Last August 6...we leave the school late...it was almost 7pm when we were on our feet heading for
the gate. We had a talked about our major paper...we organize and divided the modules for each of

JULY 3 (Thursday)

I awoke with a start... or have i already sleep?...
Today is our sharing day...i get up and started reading my report...practicing together with my presentation. It was 10 am when Karl arrived in our apartment to finish his presentation...After getting dress and double checking that i didnt leave anything important (hehe...because i always do...), we went to school early to borrow the LCD from Nodal, unfortunately it was still close.

Soon after... Athina, Karen and Edsa arrived, so we decided to split up so that someone may prepare the classroom for our sharing while the others wait that someone may hopefully arrive in Nodal open it for us to be able to get the LCD. But it was almost 11am (start of our class) and still nobody arrive in the office. Mr. Gamboa was already telling us to start but we reasoned out that the Nodal was still close so he extend the start of our discussion for another ten minutes or five... We were on the stage of panick now...or should i say i was panicking now...(expect the worst...but how was i going to report without my presentation?...it was my guide and ohhh...i haven't totally mastered my report yet...).
After almost five to six painful minutes (that felt like years...) the Nodal was open (thank god...). Somebody get the LCD for us i cant remember who,for i was in the fifth floor... Then the sharing started, Karl went first followed by Athina then me, then Bebet and before we reached Karen we had to change laptop because momi naughty's laptop wont read the presentation of Karen.
It was very hot day and i was sweating to bones when i was speaking in front of the class. I think the discussion was to long...but when i check my watch it was indeed long for after we finished the sharing it was almost 1pm and all my classmates are already starving...(including me...supposedly our class ends at 12:30). Guess what... after this class is laboratory quiz in java...

Hmmm...I think (and with good reason for i wasnt able to answer the question well) that i did'nt do
quite well in my report.But we really did our best...and i feel much... how do i say this - "medyo, medyo lang naibtan ko ug tunok gamay- hehehe..."
God is simply just the best...thanks for helping...

P.S. I also want to thank all those people whom i knowingly and unknowingly known who help us...

JULY 2 (Wednesday)

One day...our group have only one day to pull it off...tomorrow is our report and we have only one day to prepare. One day to do it all over again...print the letter...let it signed...pass it...and to conduct the interview...(GREAT!!!!)
It felt as if everyone is against us...i am almost close to tears...
So we decided to adopt USeP...after all the struggle and effort we finally had our
interview with Ma'am Marivic the head of HRDD in USeP...
(thank you so much ma'am...)
We asked her questions about our topic Overview of Human Resource Management and she was very accommodating in answering it. After the interview we made our individual reports to be shared tomorrow. My assigned topic was 'Factors Affecting Human Resource Management'. Making the presentation wasn't that easy, since i only had the details hours before, it was
hard organizing ideas. It was finally 1am when my eyes decided to sleep...

After the end of the day...as i lay in my bed hugging Ariel the stuff toy bear...
i realized that...

_never expect everything to be all right...expect the worst and be ready when it comes...
(meaning have a back up plan...do not just stick to one company...)
_and learning was and is always...always...really...REALLY FUN!!!...

JUNE 26 - JULY 1
It was one of the most exhausting week in my life...and at this moment i cant hardly remember how many kilometers i have walked on that week (not to mention that i got lost on my way home)...or how many letters we have reprinted...or how many times people shouted and almost lose their temper...

Our almost-to-be-adopted company was Davao City Water District (DCWD), we have passed our letter to them and everything seemed to be alright. We've been calling them to follow up our request and soon enough scheduled date of the interview was arranged...(yehey!!!) But with an evil twist of fate a day before our interview, we were informed by Ma'am Cookie of DCWD that they will be having a general meeting and that our interview was reschedule next week. Well it would just be fine...if and only if our sharing was not due on JULY 3.....(huhu...).

...REFLECTION...

Human beings are the most important and potent resource of an organization because it determines both its input and output (success or failure).Through people other resources such as financial, material, technological, and market are acquired, utilized, and developed.If human resources are available and capable the other factors can be of great use to the organization because only they (humans) can either control and develop or dissipate and loss these factors. Indeed the achievement and accomplishment of the organizations goal depend mostly on its human resource.

Humans are also considered as the most critical resource. Why? Because unlike the other factors (stated above) people are very complex to manage since they are by nature highly dynamic (meaning they are ever changing, constantly on the move and very active), hard to understandand and predictably unpredictable. I think this is the reason why they are least understood and worst managed of all the other resources. Humans are different and we cannot deny the fact that they have brains.

The challenge here now, is how well do organizations manage human resources?

How do they make people became the success and not the burden or failure of their company?

And that my classmates, sir, is how I think HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT came to light.

Therefore, I conclude that the main concept that bring about the practice and our study of human resource management is that human beings are the most important, potent, and critical resource that determines the success or failure of an organization.

why do you think HRM is included in the BSIT/BSCS curriculum?

...for me human resource management is included in our curriculum because
it is relevant to our course.
why relevant?...
...because in the real world (or should i say outside school) we will be
dealing with people. Through learning what is HRM we will have at least
a general picture or idea of what is there when "we" also become a human
resource of an organization.
Having HRM in our curriculum also makes us appreciate the importance
of manpower in the progress or downfall of an organization.

Since college serves as a training ground for students, it is only appropriate
to include HRM in the BSIT/BSCS curriculum or even to other courses
the university offers.

First let me define corporation...as what i have understand and read corporation is a society or group of people acting as one...(correct me if im wrong...)

what do the 21st century corporation look like?

For me, the 21st century corporation would be best explained by the word TECHNOLOGY.
With the coming of computer, new softwares and Internet technologies corporations of the 21st century are more innovative and competitive in terms of efficiency, mass customization, speed and production.
This also means that IDEAS would be considered a great asset in corporations.To adapt to the fast changing paces of technology, corporations need IDEA-ORIENTED, HIGHLY INTELLECTUAL, TALENTED, SKILLFUL and COMPETENT employees.

...hmmm...however technological transformation also means removal of human minds and hands from corporation since certain skills are no longer needed... (oh...i hope not...Let us use technology, don't let technology use us.)

In conclusion I would say that the core of the 21st century corporations is technology and that only corporations willing to embrace technological changes can survive this era. (...and oh!today is the 21st century...)

Unilever,the Anglo-Dutch consumer products multinational, may shed a major portion of its global human resources department as a result of the seven year HR outsourcing deal it struck with Accenture.
The outsourcing program is part of the company's One Unilever initiatives to:
*increase leverage of its scale
*improve its marketplace competitiveness
*deliver functional excellence
*create a more competitive cost-structure allowing it to focus on its consumers and customers.

Unilever has also been under tremendous performance pressure over the past few years. While the growing clout of global retailers like Wal-Mart and Tesco is gradually eroding its competitiveness and squeezing margins, Unilever has also been unable to discover new growth markets, which is forcing it to rationalize costs and turn more "lean and mean" globally.

The contract Unilever awarded to Accenture for HR outsourcing impacts about 3300 employees of the HR department across the globe, but less than 40 percent are expected to be directly impacted out which, not all may be losing their jobs and livelihood.
According to Unilever affected employees of this downsizing are:
*all those who handle the transactional side of HR
*payroll
*recruitment

But as many as 60 percent of its global HR employees that perform strategic functions may be retained and transferred to other roles within the company.

Tim Johns the Unilever Global Media Relations Vice President said that, Unilever has a long history of both buying and selling companies and brands.They have a lot of experience in managing human resources, and when they do, they manage it with professionalism and understanding for all the people affected. Unilever would try their best to find attractive alternatives for those whose roles no longer exist in the company as a result of this deal.Johns also hinted at the possibility of some of its HR employees moving to Accenture.

Shedding an important department, like HR, is not new to Unilever. Last year, in a similar seven year deal Unilever had outsourced its financial functions across Europe to IBM.
